Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse

The report on the abuse of Children in State Care Commission of Inquiry completed by Ted Mulligan was released earlier this month by Respond SA.

Respond SA has been developed for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse by Relationships Australia a community-based, not-for-profit organisation providing a range of relationship support in areas such as family and relationship counselling, dispute resolution, life skills, etc.

Respond SA provide support services to adults (and their families) who have been subjected to childhood sexual abuse. Services they provide include a helpline, telephone and face-to-face counselling service and groupwork programs.

The site suggests books that may be helpful including ‘The Courage to heal : a guide for women survivors of child sexual abuse’, ‘Why me? Help for victims of child sexual abuse’ and ‘Beginning to heal : a first guide for female survivors of child sexual abuse’ available to be borrowed at the WSRC.
